Ferrari shows the Hybrid-Spider 296 GTS

Ferrari 296 GTS

Ferrari cuts off the roof of the 296 GTB to become the two-seat “Berlinetta Spider.” As the Ferrari 296 GTS (Gran Turismo Spider), the plug-in-hybrid super sports car has a retractable two-piece hardtop that can be retracted and extended in 14 seconds at speeds of up to 45 km/h.

When the top is retracted, the cabin and rear are separated by a height-adjustable window that guarantees good comfort even at high speeds. A window in the rear of the engine cover, which has been modified because of the soft top, allows a view of the engine even when the vehicle is open. The chassis has been redesigned and optimized for the 296 GTS to improve torsional and flexural rigidity.

The Ferrari 296 GTS is also powered by the 830-hp hybrid powertrain consisting of a 3.0-liter V6 with 663 hp and a 122 kW (167 hp) electric motor. The power is transmitted via an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. For all its potency, however, the plug-in hybrid’s range in purely electric e-Drive mode is only 25 kilometers.
