Mercedes-Benz will take on Porsche and Tesla with AMG version of the new EQS

Today Mercedes-Benz presented the new Mercedes EQS, a full electric luxury saloon. According to media reports the Germans will add an AMG-version in the second half of the year.

The Mercedes EQS AMG  will then go head-to-head with high-performance battery cars from Porsche and Tesla. its upcoming electric sedan flagship with an AMG-branded model, according to media reports.

When it comes to high-performance cars, there could be a battle at the top with three manufacturers in the future. Until now, Porsche and Tesla have been enthroned at the top, but Mercedes-Benz now wants to push them off.

The manufacturer wants to achieve this with its subsidiary Mercedes-AMG. AMG therefore developed a new battery layout for sports cars. AMG developed a new battery layout for sports cars. This is derived from Formula 1 use. The new 400-volt battery has 560 cells surrounded by high performance cooling system to maintain a constant optimum temperature, no matter how often it is charged or discharged.”We want to tap into new customer groups, such as targeting younger buyers and more female customers,” said Philipp Schiemer, CEO of Mercedes-AMG, continuing, “We are transporting our brand DNA into an electrified future and laying the foundation for further growth.”

According to him, the Mercedes EQS AMG will be launched in the second half of the year. There are rumors, saying the car could get 612 hp.
